Prime Minister of Bulgaria Rosen Zhelyazkov is calling for an emergency meeting of the Council of Ministers. The topic of the meeting is food prices.
The focus of the meeting will be the protection of the rights of Bulgarian consumers and possible measures to calm the market. The Prime Minister will be reported on the current situation with food prices, as well as the actions planned by the institutions. Additional options for combating unfair trade practices, optimizing supply chains and regulatory changes will also be considered.
The meeting will be attended by Minister of Finance Temenuzhka Petkova, Minister of Agriculture and Food Georgi Tahov, Minister of Economy and Industry Petar Dilov, as well as the heads of the Consumer Protection Commission, the State Commission on Commodity Exchanges and Markets and the National Revenue Agency.
