James Cameron: My wife cried 4 hours after watching the new Avatar sequel

The film is scheduled for release on December 19, 2025.

The Titanic director had earlier warned that this would be the "boldest" film in the franchise, having been shelved nine times in the past decade.

Scheduled for release on December 19, 2025, the plot of this latest installment is largely unknown, but it's obviously incredibly emotional.

"She was trying to compose herself so she could tell me specific reactions, and then she just started crying again. Finally I said, 'Honey, I have to go to bed. I'm sorry, but we'll talk about this some other time,'" Cameron, 70, told Empire.

The pair met on the set of Titanic in 1997, in which 63-year-old Suzy played Lizzie Calvert. That same year, Cameron married Linda Hamilton.

The two divorced in 1999 and the following year he married Suzy, with whom he had three children, Claire, Quinn and Elizabeth.

Suzi watched all of Avatar: Fire and Ash from beginning to end, which her husband, the director, quipped was "a little longer than the second movie."

2022's Avatar: The Way of Water is 3 hours and 12 minutes, a half-hour longer than the original 2009 film. So the entire franchise so far is almost 6 hours. Cameron plans to release a fourth and fifth film in 2026 and 2031, respectively, which - assuming both are a minimum of three hours - would bring the franchise to over 15 hours in length.

The director is known to have worked out all the details for the remaining films, although he has had to adapt to other writers' suggestions.

The director of Terminator revealed that they recorded certain scenes for this film in the prequel - they also managed to shoot a few scenes for the fourth film. It is scheduled to be released in December 2029.

Earlier this month, lead actress Zoe Saldana discussed the lengthy project, which she originally signed on for at the age of 28.

"I think if everything goes according to plan, I'll be 53, 54 years old for the fifth and final movie," the now 46-year-old actress told Deadline's "The Actor's Side."

Host Pete Hammond was amazed at the 26-year-old's dedication to the franchise that helped launch her career with the help of "Star Trek."

"It's a gift to be able to come back to a character that has given me so much, to come back to a place that has been so magical - not just for me, but for so many people around the world," she added.

"Avatar remains the highest-grossing film of all time. It has earned a staggering $2.9 billion at the box office. | BGNES
