Pandas are the only animals in the capital of the United States that evoke so much love.
After a 14-month hiatus, the lovable animals have captivated visitors and zoo employees alike.
"Bao Li and Qin Bao (the names of the new panda couple) have won our hearts. It is with great excitement that we welcome panda fans back to the zoo," said Brandy Smith, zoo director, at the opening ceremony of the Asia Trail exhibit.
The three-year-old pandas arrived in mid-October after the zoo's last pair of pandas returned to China in November 2023. Bao Li and Qin Bao will remain in the United States for the next 10 years.
Through Feb. 9, the zoo will host a series of special events, including a Chinese New Year program, screenings of the movie "Kung Fu Panda" and cultural activities. | BGNES
