Mila Kunis, Steven Spielberg and Mark Zuckerberg united against Kanye West and his anti-Semitic comments? The video, which has been circulating on social media since Tuesday, February 11, is actually a deepfake generated by artificial intelligence (AI). That's enough to make Scarlett Johansson, who appears in the fake video, react.
It's believable, and that's the problem. A black-and-white video showing Jewish celebrities uniting against Kanye West after his recent anti-Semitic outbursts on X (formerly Twitter) and the sale of T-shirts with the iconic swastika on his Yeezy website has been widely circulated on social media. The video, which looks realistic, is a deepfake generated by artificial intelligence. It was created by Ori Bejerano, an Israeli entrepreneur and artificial intelligence specialist, who posted it on his profile with the caption, "This content was created or digitally retouched using artificial intelligence to look real." This statement is not always perceived by those who share his post.
The video shows actresses Scarlett Johansson and Mila Kunis, rapper Drake, comedian Jerry Seinfeld, director Steven Spielberg, singer Lenny Kravitz, Meta chief Mark Zuckerberg and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman wearing a white T-shirt with a fist, a raised middle finger, the Star of David and the name Kanye. The video ends with actor Adam Sandler giving the camera the finger, followed by the words "Enough is enough" and "Join the fight against anti-Semitism." Scarlett Johansson expressed her concerns to People, condemning "the misuse of artificial intelligence, regardless of the message".
"It has come to the attention of my family and friends that an AI-generated video in response to an anti-Semitic opinion is going viral online and gaining popularity. I am a Jew who has no tolerance for anti-Semitism or hate speech of any kind. But I also firmly believe that the potential for hate speech, multiplied by AI, is a much greater threat than anyone taking responsibility for it. We must speak out against the misuse of AI, regardless of its message, or risk losing sight of reality," said Scarlett Johansson.
As a public figure, Scarlett Johansson has often been a "victim" of artificial intelligence. "But the truth is that the threat of AI affects us all. It is appalling that the US government is paralyzed when it comes to passing legislation to protect all its citizens from the imminent dangers of AI. I urge the US government to make passing legislation restricting the use of AI its top priority; this is a bipartisan issue that has a huge impact on the immediate future of humanity as a whole," added Colin Jost's wife. | BGNES
