European Prosecutor General Laura Kövesi has suspended the Bulgarian prosecutor in the College of European Public Prosecutors, Teodora Georgieva.

This is the most severe measure against any risk or perception of compromising investigations, the Kövesi press office said. The European Public Prosecutor's Office stresses that it has applied the full range of internal measures to protect its investigations.

Yesterday, Kövesi's office said that Teodora Georgieva was being administratively investigated by other European prosecutors for possible misconduct.

The institution said it had implemented the full range of internal measures to protect the integrity of its investigations. According to them, the removal of the Bulgarian European Public Prosecutor is the strongest measure against any risk or perception of breach of the integrity of investigations. Her removal will not affect the outcome of the administrative investigation.

The European Public Prosecutor's Office in Luxembourg will not disclose further details or grant interviews at this stage. All news will be reported in due course, they said. | BGNES
