Russian President Vladimir Putin said the first Russian-US talks "give some hope" for resolving "problems" such as the conflict in Ukraine, AFP reports.
"The first discussions with the new US administration give some hope. There is a mutual willingness to work to restore relations," Putin said at a meeting of the FSB security agency.
According to Putin, it is necessary to create a system of indivisible security in the world "that will really ensure balance and mutual respect of interests."
He also noted the increasing number of terrorist crimes in Russia, more than half of which, he said, were "planned and organized by the Ukrainian special services and their couriers."
Earlier on February 27th , US and Russian representatives met in Istanbul to discuss issues related to the diplomatic missions of the two countries.
