Skopje put into operation the railway line Kumanovo - Belyakovce from Corridor 8

North Macedonia has put into operation the Kumanovo-Beliakovce railway line, part of Corridor 8. The line is 30.8 km long and includes three new railway stations, six platforms, five bridges, one tunnel and many other infrastructure facilities.

Prime Minister Christian Mickoski said that Corridor 8 is as important and strategic a project as Corridor 10.

"These two corridors are a top priority for this government because we as a country represent a crossroads and this should be our advantage over other countries in the region," he said.

He added that the second section would be completed soon, as well as the tendering process for the third section.

"I am confident that the second section will soon be completed within the timeframe stipulated in the contract. Very soon the tender procedure for the third section will be completed, which will fully connect us with our eastern neighbour and thus we will be part of a very important corridor not only for the EU but also for NATO," the prime minister added.

Signalling and telecommunications equipment worth €10 million has been installed at stations and stops, including aluminium seats, steel canopies, displays and LED lighting. | BGNES
