Ukraine accused Russia of committing a “war crime” during the massive attack on the city of Kharkiv. The attack included strikes on a military hospital where personnel were wounded.
“The hospital building and nearby residential buildings were damaged by a Shahed drone,” the Ukrainian army said in a statement.
“According to preliminary data, there are injured among the servicemen who were treated in the medical center,” the statement added.
Kiev does not usually disclose casualty figures and did not say how many soldiers were wounded, AFP reported.
Ukraine accused Russia of committing a “war crime” and “violating the norms of international humanitarian law.”
Ukrainian emergency services said the “massive attack” on the northeastern city had also destroyed residential and administrative buildings.
Governor Oleg Sinegubov said two people had died: a 67-year-old man and a 70-year-old woman. He added that 25 other people were injured, including children.
The latest deadly strikes on Kharkiv come at a time when US President Donald Trump's administration is pushing for a quick end to the more than three-year-old war, holding talks with both Russia and Ukraine.
Moscow has rejected a joint U.S.-Ukraine proposal for an unconditional and complete ceasefire, and Ukraine has accused Russia of dragging out the talks with no intention of halting its offensive.
According to Kiev, the ceasefire, which assumes a halt to strikes in the Black Sea, took effect last week. However, the Kremlin says the agreement will only come into force once restrictions on its agricultural sector are lifted. | BGNES
