Demi Moore was calm and content when she lost the Oscar for Best Actress

Hollywood star Demi Moore was feeling calm and content when she lost the Best Actress Oscar to Mikey Madison.

The 62-year-old actress was tipped to win an Oscar at the 2025 ceremony for her role in the satire about beauty and ageing "The Substance", but lost out to 25-year-old Mikey, who played a gold-digging stripper in "Anora".

Speaking to Time magazine, Demi revealed that she had a strong hunch that the award would go to Mikey, even moments before the winner was announced.

"I didn't feel gutted. I didn't feel any of those things. I leaned over and whispered to my manager, 'I think Mikey's going to get the award.' I don't know why I knew, but I knew. I was so focused and calm. I just trusted and trusted everything that would unfold," she said.

At the 96th Academy Awards, held earlier this year in Los Angeles, Mikey took home the Best Actress award for her role in Sean Baker's film "Anora".

Sean's film had already picked up major awards for Best Editing, Original Screenplay and Best Director, establishing itself as the frontrunner before receiving the biggest accolade of the evening - Best Picture.

Demi was one of the main contenders for her role in "The Substance", having previously won Best Actress in a Leading Role at the Golden Globes, Critics' Choice and SAG Awards.

However, Mikey gained momentum after her BAFTA win and both actresses were considered favourites in the category.

A day after the ceremony, Demi took to Instagram to express her gratitude for the trip and offer her congratulations to Mikey.

"As this awards season comes to a close, I am so overwhelmed with gratitude for this trip. This has been the trip of a lifetime and we are just getting started! I am so grateful to my team, my fellow nominees and everyone who made this experience so full of joy and light and a huge congratulations to Mikey Madison - I can't wait to see what you do next," Moore wrote. | BGNES
