Michael B. Jordan is in a dual role for the upcoming horror film Sinners, playing twin brothers Smoke and Stack in Ryan Coogler's project, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
"Somebody said something to me about another guy walking around here looking like me, that's crazy," the star joked at the film's New York premiere. The film is set in the South in the 1930s. The brothers leave their troubled lives behind to start over in their hometown, only to encounter greater evil upon their arrival.
On the carpet, Jordan shared that the biggest challenge of playing twins "was the technical side of how we shot the two characters. I did each scene four, five times, so I think the balance of going back and forth and back and forth was difficult at times, but you find a rhythm and after a while it becomes second nature. I had a lot of fun."
The film also deals with the supernatural and features vampires, with Jordan citing "Vampire in Brooklyn" and "Lost Boys" as two of his favorite films in the bloodsucker genre.
"Those are two of them that were pretty racy for me and I liked the cast and the storyline," he added. "Eddie (Murphy) was so good in 'Vampire in Brooklyn'; seeing myself as a vampire was pretty cool."
The film stars Hailee Steinfeld, Miles Catton, Jack O'Connell, Unmi Mosaku and Delroy Lindo, with the latter talking about the musical elements present in the story.
"They're central to the foundation of this narrative, central to the story of this culture, and central to the story of this country," Lindo says, while Unmi Mosaku adds that "blues music is throughout the film," which helps make the unique combination "rooted in community, love, music, inspiration, lineage, hope - and then vampires." | BGNES
