Serbian President Vucic: I have ended the colour revolution of the terrorists, there will be no transitional government

I will fight as long as I live, but the colour revolution in Serbia will not succeed. There will be no transitional government. We will not allow the Constitution to be violated. This is a great day for the Serbs of Kosovo, for the Republika Srpska, for Montenegro and for those who have come from North Macedonia.

This is what Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said during the counter-rally that was organised in the centre of Belgrade by the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SPS), BGNES reported.

Before he appeared on the podium, the presenters introduced Vucic as a historical figure. Vucic announced why Serbia needed a new movement. "Because we need new energy, new power, a new plan until 2035. We need smart people and I promise you that then the average salary will be 2,500 euros and pensions will be over 1,000 euros," Vucic said, announcing the demands of the newly created Movement for the People and the State. He called on the institutions, and in particular the prosecutor's office, to act immediately so that there is order, peace and full respect for the constitution, the "confiscated institutions", including the state-owned Radio and Television of Serbia (RTS), are returned, responsibility is sought for attacks on civilians, and the perpetrators are punished. Vucic stressed "that they will not stop until these demands are implemented" and new rallies in Nis, Kragujevac and Novi Sad.

In his view, what happened (the protests) was organised both from outside and from within, and internal and external forces want to see Serbia subjugated. He argues that the protests started with violence in Novi Sad and from there the terror that is destroying Serbia started. Behind these forces, he said, "are those politicians who plundered the country 15 years ago and now that they have seen that the coffers are full and the people do not want them, they have decided to take power through the street".

Vucic reiterated that he had stood up to unprecedented, horrific pressure against Serbia, yet Serbia was second in economic growth last year, and if there had been no protests would have been No 1.

He was preceded by Djuro Raca from Novi Sad, whose daughter died when the station's canopy collapsed in the city on 1 November 2024. He said he had sent scientific evidence that the train station tragedy was "a terrorist act by internal and external forces" orchestrated by "foreign terrorists."

"It is no coincidence that it happened on November 1. That's when Catholics celebrate the Day of the Dead," he continued.

Milos Pavlovic, a student from Republika Srpska, also spoke at the podium, pathetically recounting how he grew up with stories from his grandfather and the picture from the Salonika front - how the Serbian army "destroyed the Kingdom of Bulgaria."

The presenters quoted foreign writings about "the Serbs being a god-chosen people" and their "magnanimity at the battles of Bitola". "And it was not in vain that Bismarck uttered the last word 'Serbia'," was heard from the rostrum at the rally.

There were several columns of empty buses from Nikola Tesla Avenue in Belgrade to Zemun, bringing people from all over the country. Among those who came was spotted the notorious heroin drug trafficker from Kosovo, Zvonko Veselinovic, accused of murder.

Hungarian President Viktor Orban backed Vucic in a video address.

Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik also took part in the rally. "There is no one to lead Serbia forward but President Vucic. Thanks to him, we speak freely today. Serbia is taking on its full meaning - citizens are showing that they want a free, strong and united country. Long live Serbia, Republika Srpska and the Serbian people, wherever we are!", he said.

The entire square was dotted with fireworks, giving it the appearance of a New Year's Eve celebration. | BGNES
