A group of unidentified individuals clashed with police forces shortly after midnight in the Exarchia district of central Athens.
According to public broadcaster ERT, the violence erupted when the group attacked the local police station with Molotov cocktails and stones.
In response, police used tear gas and flash grenades to disperse the attackers, "Ekathimerini" reports.
The clashes lasted about an hour, during which several vehicles were set on fire.
According to police, 72 people were detained and one police officer was injured.
In addition, 21 vehicles were set on fire during the clashes, five of which were completely destroyed, and damage was also reported to a house and a shop. | BGNES
