The bodies of a wealthy couple and their young daughter were discovered in their South Carolina mansion on March 28, and police gave no details about their mysterious deaths.
Police in the town of Greer, which is northeast of Greenville in western South Carolina, discovered the bodies of the parents and their 9-year-old daughter after responding to a call from a distraught neighbor, the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office said, as quoted by the New York Post.
Authorities identified the victims as Richard Samarel, a former Bloomberg LP stock executive, 54, Lina Maria Samarel, 45, and their daughter, Samantha Samarel.
Police gave no further details about the deaths - including whether they were killed or died in any accident - but there appears to be "no threat to the public," the sheriff's office said in a statement.
They added that there were "other occupants" in the home who "were at school when the incident occurred" - possibly the couple's other daughter and young son, shown in Lina Maria's social media posts.
"More information will be released at the appropriate time once both the medical examiner's office and this agency can continue their respective investigations into this incident," the sheriff's office said.
The parents' Facebook profiles say they have been married since 2009.
According to their profiles, Richard Samarel previously worked as a stock manager at Bloomberg LP before leaving the company in 2007, and his wife, Lina, is a Colombian immigrant who works at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
The family lived in a six-bedroom house worth nearly $800,000, according to Zillow. | BGNES
