Four women suing social media influencer Andrew Tate over abusive and coercive behaviour are seeking more than 100,000 pounds ($132,000) in compensation.

This was revealed at the High Court in London, reports AFP.

The papers, filed last week, accuse Tate, who describes himself as a womanizer, of rape and sexual assault, as well as pointing a gun at a woman's face.

At a preliminary hearing in the civil case, Judge Richard Armstrong said the plaintiffs "are seeking damages that will likely reach a six-figure sum," and that there could be a 3-week trial in early 2027.

Anne Studd, who represents the women, said in a written submission that the case "is believed to be the first action in which allegations of coercive control are considered in a civil context as to whether that conduct may constitute intentional infliction of harm".

She called coercive control "a form of courtship and manipulation."

Armstrong granted the women's request for one expert to appear but rejected another.

Court documents seen by AFP allege that Tate, a former professional kickboxer, grabbed a woman by the throat several times in 2015. He is also accused of assaulting her with a belt and raping her.

Tate's lawyer called the allegations a "hoax" and "a pack of lies."

A second woman claims Tate choked her without her consent during sex in 2015. A third woman accuses him of raping her in 2013, and a fourth alleges that Tate choked her until she lost consciousness during sex, then continued to have sex and threatened to kill her.

The civil case is being pursued after Britain's Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) decided in 2019 to take no action.

Matt Jury, a solicitor whose practice represents women, told the BBC that his clients "have been denied justice by the police and the CPS while they have watched Andrew Tate's influence grow".

Tate is facing legal action in several states, including some cases in which he is charged alongside his brother Tristan Tate.

In Romania, the Tate brothers face separate charges of trafficking minors, sexual contact with a minor and money laundering. | BGNES
