The European Commission anticipates receiving a favorable ruling this year over at least a portion of the 653 million euro second payment for Bulgaria under the Recovery and Resilience Plan. Maciej Berestecki, the spokesperson for the Commission, said as much. 

Bulgaria's Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev announced yesterday that Bulgaria would certainly lose this money. Later, however, he said that the government would try to save at least part of the amount. 

Berestecki emphasized that Bulgaria's October 2023 proposal for this funding is still being reviewed by the Commission. Some significant goals have not been reached, per the preliminary assessment from the previous year. According to BNR's correspondent in Brussels, Angelina Piskova, the Economic and Financial Committee of the Council of the EU also endorsed the evaluation. | BGNES
