Bulgaria and Turkey are not just neighbours. For Turkey, Bulgaria is the gateway to Europe and the Balkans, and our very valuable neighbour. And for Bulgaria, Turkey is the gateway to Asia and the Middle East.

This is what Turkish Trade Minister Ömer Bolat said during his visit to Sofia, BGNES reported.

"Both countries have an important geostrategic, geopolitical position. Our relations are excellent," Bolat continued.

The goal is to reach $10 billion in trade, he emphasized.

Bolat pointed to priority areas: energy, machinery, metals, agricultural products.

"We have successful cooperation in customs," the Turkish minister said, expressing hope for successful cooperation with the Bulgarian government. Bulgaria is our ally and historical friend.

On customs, we expect improvements and extensions. We are happy to learn that they have already started, Bolat said. | BGNES
