Shakira resumes her world tour in Lima

A day earlier, the star had to cancel her first concert in the Peruvian capital, citing abdominal pains that landed her in hospital.

Latin music icon Shakira took to the stage for a concert in Lima on February 17 after leaving the hospital where she was admitted with abdominal pains.

The singer kicked off her first world tour in seven years on February 11 in Rio de Janeiro for her latest album "Las mujeres ya no lloran" ("Women don't cry anymore") after winning the Grammy for best Latin pop album.

"What a pleasure to be back in Peru after 14 years. It's a dream come true. Thank you, Lima, for your expressions of affection yesterday (February 16), thank you all for your messages of tenderness," the Colombian singer told the thousands of spectators who came to see her at the National Stadium.

A day earlier, the star had to cancel her first concert in the Peruvian capital, citing abdominal pains that landed her in hospital, AFP reported.

Masterlive, the agency that organizes Shakira's concerts in Lima, announced on Instagram that the show would be rescheduled for November 15, and for those who were unable to get a ticket, there would be an extra show on November 16. She also posted photos of her performance that day.

On stage, the singer performed her greatest hits, and according to the local press, the song of the moment "BZRP Music Sessions #53", which hints at her widely publicized breakup with Spanish ex-footballer Gerard Pique in 2022.

Between now and the end of June, Shakira is set to perform nearly 50 concerts in Latin America, followed by the United States and Canada. | BGNES
