American singer Taylor Swift has set a record for the most number-one albums by a female artist in the history of the UK charts, according to the Official Charts Company, which compiles and publishes UK music charts.
According to the company, the live album Lover (Live From Paris) is Swift's 13th album to top the charts in the country. She has surpassed her compatriot Madonna, whose 12 albums have previously reached the top of the UK music charts. She is followed by Kylie Minogue (10), Barbra Streisand (7), Lana Del Rey (6), Celine Dion, Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande and Beyoncé (5 each).
Swift also tied with Elvis Presley (1935-1977) for first place on the list of the most popular foreign artists in the UK. Looking at the overall rankings, the 35-year-old American is currently behind only the rock band The Beatles and singer Robbie Williams, who have each topped the British charts 15 times with their albums. | BGNES
