At the request of the Vazrazhdane party, Bulgaria’s Parliament has scheduled a hearing for February 12 to question the Prime Minister, the Ministers of Energy, Environment and Water, Agriculture and Food, as well as the Director of the National Electricity Company (NEK).
The hearing will focus on the government’s actions and procedures regarding Greece’s intention to sign a long-term commercial agreement for water supply from the Arda River to support Greek agricultural needs.
Vazrazhdane alleges that NEK, without the necessary legal authority, signed an agreement not with the Greek state but with the region of Macedonia and Thrace, allowing the continuation of water supply until the end of summer.
''This means that tens of millions of cubic meters of water have been given to Greece for free'', said party leader Kostadin Kostadinov. | BGNES
