All Italian football matches were postponed today following the death of Pope Francis. The head of the Roman Catholic Church passed away on Easter Monday at the age of 88.
Four Serie A matches from the 33rd round were scheduled to take place today, including Juventus' visit to Parma.
The Italian Football Federation announced that all matches "from Serie A to amateur level" have been postponed.
"Italian football shares the sadness of hundreds of millions of people in connection with the painful death of His Holiness Pope Francis. A great example of Christian nobility and dignity, he has always been close to sport, in particular to football. His human and spiritual closeness to the sick, the poor and the repressed on this planet was his deepest testimony. He will remain forever in our hearts as a passionate admirer of the game of football", said the president of the local football federation, Gabriele Gravina. | BGNES
