Victoria Tomova advanced to the second round of singles at the WTA 500 tournament in Linz (Austria). Bulgaria's top seed defeated world number 57 Jessica Bousas Maneiro from Spain 7:6(7), 6:4. The match lasted an hour and 53 minutes.

Tomova made a great comeback from 0:5 in the first set. At 6:5, the Bulgarian even missed six set points, which led to a tiebreak. In it, Vicky fell behind 4-6, but made a comeback and won with 9-7 points. In the second set, Tomova led 5:1, but allowed the Spaniard to take three consecutive games for 5:4.
