Marvel and Disney's "Captain America" held on to the top spot at the North American box office this weekend despite a big drop from its opening, earning an estimated $28.2 million, analysts said.

Studio Neon's new comedy-horror film "The Monkey," based on the Stephen King short story, opened in second place for the Friday-to-Sunday period, grossing an estimated $14.2 million, according to Exhibitor Relations, an industry watchdog. 
Theo James, Rohan Campbell and Elijah Wood star in the film about a demonic toy monkey who is linked to a series of gruesome deaths. 
In third place, down one spot from last weekend, is Columbia and Sony's "Paddington in Peru" with $6.5 million. Ben Whishaw voices the lovable bear with a floppy hat. 
Also down one spot is "Dogman," a superhero comedy from Universal and DreamWorks, with $5.9 million. The family-friendly animation is a sequel to the best-selling "Captain Underpants." 
In fifth place, with $3 million, is CMC Pictures' "Ne Zha 2." The Chinese blockbuster has become the highest-grossing opening in China and the highest-grossing animated film of all time. | BGNES
