Scarlett Johansson will star in this year's Cannes Film Festival on screen and behind the camera.
Organisers have unveiled the list of films that will be vying for honours on the French Riviera.
Johansson will star in Wes Anderson's new film "The Phoenician Scheme" alongside Benicio Del Toro and Tom Hanks, one of the films competing for the coveted Palme d'Or award.

Johansson will also present her directorial debut "Eleanor the Great," about an elderly woman who mourns the death of her best friend, in the Un Certain Regard minor competition.
Organizers stressed that they took seriously the grave findings of a French parliamentary inquiry into the entertainment industry, which concluded that sexual and psychological violence, especially against women, is "endemic."

President Iris Knobloch said the festival was being "considerate" and approaching the MPs' recommendations to improve protection for performers "with seriousness and determination".
"Women no longer ask for their place, they take it," Knobloch noted at a press conference in Paris.
"We are honoured to amplify their voices, to shine a light on incredible talents who are expanding our view of the world," she added.

Yet men dominated this year's main competition. Among the 20 films announced by festival director Thierry Frémaux, there are only six by female directors.
