Actor George Clooney shared some interesting details about his life with his wife Amal Clooney and their seven-year-old twins Alexander and Ella in an interview with the New York Times.
They have homes in England and near his family in Kentucky, Clooney told the publication, but their main residence is a farm in France.
“When I grew up in Kentucky, all I wanted was to get off the farm, to get off that life,” the actor said. “Now I’m back in that life. Driving a tractor and all that. It’s the best chance I have of a normal life.”
Clooney as a farmer and it’s not for a role? That’s true, although people would be forgiven for thinking it was for a project.
The New York Times story, after all, begins with an anecdote about Clooney smoking not because he loves it, but because of his upcoming Broadway debut as Edward R. Murrow in the stage adaptation of the 2005 film “Good Night and Good Luck.”
“I had to learn to breathe better. I go outside so the kids don’t see me, and I smoke a little,” the star said.
It’s not something he enjoys, considering that within his extended family, “eight uncles and aunts have died of lung cancer — it’s a big deal.”
His aunt, singer and actress Rosemary Clooney, who died in 2002 at age 74, is among his affected relatives.
The actor’s father, journalist Nick Clooney, opposes the trend.
“My dad is the only one who doesn’t smoke, and he’s 91,” the actor said.
One thing the star has been doing lately that he enjoys is bowling, although he said the last time he bowled was 30 years ago.
“Oh my God,” Clooney said. “It’s an incredible thing to get older when you think you can still do the things you love.”
The 63-year-old said his twins help him stay active and youthful.
“We’re in the car on the way to school and I make them listen to heavy metal because I just love it when they sing. My daughter is into tragic songs,” he says. “She loves ‘What Was I Made For?’ by Billie Eilish and ‘Without You’ by Harry Nilsson. But they’re happy kids, so I’m a lucky guy.” | BGNES
