Jessica Chastain became a countess thanks to her husband

"I grew up in poverty.I never had access to anything superfluous or the slightest intellectual stimulation," says Jessica Chastain

While she's not exactly one to play princesses in the movies, in real life Jessica Chastain - who turned 48 on March 24 - is a countess in Italy.
It's possible this is a script from a Disney fairy tale. The heroine of the story: Jessica Chastain, daughter of a cook mother and a plumber stepfather.

"I grew up in poverty," she confessed in a 2014 interview with Madame Figaro. She adds, "I never had access to anything superfluous or to the slightest intellectual stimulation." It was by starting out as an actress that she broke out of her primitive state.

After graduating from the Juilliard School in New York, where she began acting, Jessica Chastain made her mark in Los Angeles with films like The Tree of Life (2011), The Color of Despair (2011) - which earned her an Oscar nomination, then Zero Dark Thirty (2012), Interstellar (2014) and Alone on Mars (2015), until she became one of Hollywood's princesses. Then, thanks to her marriage, she became a countess.

Jessica Chastain and Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo, then PR director of the Armani brand (he then moved on to Monclerc), met in 2012. Five years later, the American actress and the Italian nobleman said "I do" to each other in Treviso, Italy. Specifically in Carbonera, a small village about 20 minutes from Venice, at the Passis' estate in Preposulo: the magnificent villa of Tiepolo Passis where Gian Luca grew up (the villa is open for guided tours and as a bed and breakfast).

Heir to a noble Italian family that settled north of Milan since 900, in the middle of the Prosecco hills, Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo holds the title of Count. "It's not the title that's important - you have to be a count at heart," he told Vanity Fair in a 2009 interview. The fact remains that, by virtue of marriage, Jessica Chastain has inherited the title - honorary rather than political.

The actress is now the Countess of Passy. In other words, "Countess of Peace". Passi means "peace" in Italian, a name the Preposulo family inherited in 1307 because of peace negotiations between the Guelphs and the Ghibellines, two warring medieval factions. Along with peacemaking, Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo's family specialty is the Italian sparkling wine prosecco. The business was relaunched by Jessica Chastain's husband, from whom she has two children, Giulietta (2018) and August (2020).

"When I was 28, I met two of my oldest friends, Giovanni and Pietro, in our hometown. We decided to create something together. We wanted to combine the knowledge we had acquired in our respective sectors - fashion for me and finance for them. We decided to create our own prosecco brand," he tells Glory Media. "Our goal is to offer wines of the highest possible quality. | BGNES
