The new episodes will cover the video game "The Last of Us: Part II".
Season 2 of HBO's "The Last of Us" will air on April 13, the company announced.
After Season 1 covered the events of the first hit video game, Season 2 will follow the sequel "The Last of Us: Part II."
Like the sequel, Season 2 takes place after a five-year time jump and follows the even more hardened Joel and Ellie as they face off against even more mutated and infected zombies.
New cast members this season include Caitlin Dever as Abby, Isabella Merced as Dinah, Young Mazino as Jesse, Ariella Barer, Tati Gabriel, Spencer Lord and Danny Ramirez.
Catherine O'Hara will also guest star in an undisclosed role. Jeffrey Wright will reprise his role from the second installment as Isaac, the ruthless leader of the "Liberation of Washington," a Seattle faction.
The writers and executive producers of "The Last of Us" are Craig Mazin and Neil Druckman, who co-wrote the video game series. Both have also directed episodes of the series and will do so again in a second season.
Mazin recently indicated that each of the seven episodes in Season 2 will be "food" and "high calorie."
"Each episode is like a meal. You can have a light dinner or go to a 12-course French restaurant," Mazin said.
"We have seven episodes. They're high calorie and dense. If you think action, drama and sweep are the things that create an epic character, every one of those episodes is pretty strong. You won't be bored," he concluded. | BGNES
