Kosovo's Prime Minister Albin Kurti has resigned to pave the way for his swearing-in as a member of the country's ninth parliament, Kosova Press reports.
The resignation was sent to the acting speaker of the Assembly. However, today's constituent session of the parliament was postponed due to lack of quorum.
According to the law, those who receive a mandate as MPs and are also part of Kosovo's government - holding an executive position such as: prime minister, deputy prime minister, minister or deputy minister - must resign from their position.
Kurti's Self-Determination Party won the parliamentary elections on 9 February, but won 48 seats, not enough to form an independent majority in the 120-seat parliament. | BGNES
