According to a Kiev Independent journalist on the scene, there was a series of explosions in Kiev at around 1:00 a.m. local time on April 24. Additional explosions were later heard around 4:00 p.m. local time.

Russia has fired strike drones as well as cruise and ballistic missiles at the Ukrainian capital, the Kiev city military administration said.

At least 38 people have been hospitalized, Klitschko said, adding that a rescue operation was underway to remove victims trapped under the rubble.
