Vucic: The explosion in Kosovo represents a major hybrid attack against Serbia

Aleksandar Vucic addressed his nation today on the occasion of yesterday's explosion in Kosovo, which damaged a canal supplying water to the country's two main coal-fired power plants and for which the Serbian government was blamed.

"Yesterday there was an attempt at a major and hybrid attack on Serbia. We followed carefully everything that was announced by the officials in Pristina and their international sponsors, their media and those who are paid well, but we did not manage to hear many facts. We will present the facts and say what happened, what did not happen and what the consequences are."

That's what Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said during his address to the nation on yesterday's explosion in Kosovo that damaged a canal supplying water to the country's two main coal-fired power plants and was blamed on the Serbian government.

"Yesterday at around 19:00, a loud explosion echoed in the town of Ugljare-Varage, municipality of Zubin Potok. Members of the Kosovo Police arrived at the scene very quickly, NATO KFOR forces were spotted in the early hours of the morning, and the site was also visited by Kosovo officials. In the morning, the National Security Council of so-called Kosovo said that this was a terrorist attack carried out by Serbia and Russia," Vucic said.

"We are calmer than them and we will push for the investigation more than them. In the first wave, they blamed Belgrade and Serbia, not the Serbs, and Belgrade and Serbia had no idea about this," he added.

"Nobody should be worried, you cannot prove something that does not exist, Belgrade is not involved, and we will see who. As a serious country we did not deal with the accusations and we said the attack was directly ordered by (Albin) Kurti, the investigation will show and we are also conducting it. We have some information who the perpetrator might be but we will not inform the public. We are ready to cooperate with the professional part of EULEX and the part of the police in Pristina, KFOR, for those who want to know the truth, we are so open that anyone can get the information, even Pristina," Vucic stated.

"The actions of the authorities in Pristina have nothing to do with a serious investigation, but with invading Serbian houses," Vucic said, presenting whose Serbian houses in Kosovo were searched.

Vucic's main argument is that this is a canal and an infrastructural facility that Serbia controls, in which it invests money and for which an administrative decision is needed to stop, not some attack and explosion.

BGNES recalls that a day earlier Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti called a crisis meeting of the Security Council after the powerful explosion. At it, he announced that the "serious criminal, terrorist and malicious" attack was organised by Serbia. He also said that he had informed Enrico Barduani, commander of the NATO peacekeeping mission in Kosovo (KFOR), of the situation.

"Elements of the terrorist organisations "Civil Protection" and "Northern Brigade" and the chief criminal Milan Radojcic, under the direction of the President and the Government of Serbia, are planning and training in Serbia such professional attacks," Kosovo police said yesterday.

Three such attacks have been carried out in less than a week. | BGNES
