A student from the American University of Bulgaria (AUBG) is among the victims of the disco fire in Kochani, North Macedonia.
The victim was Stefania Aleksova, a sophomore at the University of Blagoevgrad. The young woman was originally from Kochani, where 59 people died and 155 were injured.
The sad news was announced by AUBG President Dr Margi Ensain in a message to the academic community published on the university's website. In response to the tragedy, the university is providing psychological support for students and conducting consultations with psychologist Milena Simova.
AUB will also organise a service in memory of Stefania.
"We all feel the burden of losing Stefania. We will soon hold a memorial service where we will gather together to honour her. Right now, let us be there for each other. This is a profoundly sad time and grief affects each of us differently," wrote the rector of the American University in Blagoevgrad. | BGNES
