A source from the Holy See denied reports that preparations were underway for Francis' return to the Santa Marta residence.

The 88-year-old pontiff has been admitted to Rome's Gemelli Hospital for treatment since February 14. He has suffered several respiratory crises that have raised real fears for his life.

The Holy See has reported that the Pope's condition is now stable. The doctors' prognosis is no longer considered "reserved" or uncertain, meaning Francis' life is no longer at immediate risk. However, his condition remains complicated and he will require hospital treatment for several more days.
