A 56-year-old Japanese woman has been arrested in the death of her husband, who she locked on the balcony stark naked at night.
The man had spent hours in the cold and subsequently died of frostbite.
The crime took place in the southern Japanese region of Nagasaki. On the night in question, the temperature dropped to 3.7°C, the Mainichi newspaper reported.
In February 2022, the woman "ordered the victim to go out on the balcony while naked and locked him there," said local police officer Masafumi Tanigawa.
The next day, police rushed to the scene after a call to the emergency phone. The 49-year-old man was found "almost dead" in one of the rooms, and later died of hypothermia.
A case had earlier been registered in which the woman had attacked her partner with a knife, causing injuries to his nose that took two weeks to heal.
The woman denied the allegations, telling police "I didn't do anything". | BGNES
