The clash in the Oval Office between US President Donald Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance and visiting Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky has sparked a groundswell of support from European leaders and exposed America's political rift over the war between Ukraine and Russia, BGNES reported.
Europe
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Antonio Costa have expressed full support for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
"Your dignity honours the bravery of the Ukrainian people. Be strong, be brave, be fearless. You are never alone, dear Volodymyr Zelensky. We will continue to work with you for a just and lasting peace," reads an identical X post shared by both.
French President Emmanuel Macron said there was one "aggressor - Russia" and one "attacked people - Ukraine".
"We must never confuse the aggressor and the victim in this terrible war. We support Ukraine in good times and in difficult times," said the leader of Germany's Christian Democratic Union, Friedrich Merz, a future chancellor of Germany. "Berlin and Europe are united behind Ukraine," said German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock.
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said his country would continue its support for Ukraine after the acrimonious dispute between its leader Volodymyr Zelensky and US President Donald Trump in the Oval Office.
"You are not alone, dear Zelensky, dear Ukrainian friends," Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk wrote in X.
Moldovan President Maya Sandu said, "The truth is simple. Russia invaded Ukraine. Russia is the aggressor. Ukraine is defending its freedom - and ours. We support Ukraine."
Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmigal noted that "President Zelensky is right," warning that a ceasefire without guarantees is a path to Russian occupation of all of Europe.
"Vladimir Putin souffled to Donald Trump during his 'unseemly' exchange of remarks with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky at the White House. Donald Trump did not defend peace," said former French President Francois Hollande.
Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini backed Trump: "The goal is PEACE, stop this war! Go Donald Trump!"
"Strong men make peace, weak men make war. Today, President Donald Trump stood courageously in defence of peace. Even if it is hard for many to digest. Thank you, Mr. President!" said Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban in turn.
The leaders of the Baltic States, Sweden, the Netherlands, Austria, Canada and others also expressed their support for Volodymyr Zelensky and Ukraine.
Moscow
Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev did not hide his joy at the clash between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and US President Donald Trump at the White House.
"For the first time Trump told the truth to the face of the cocaine clown," wrote former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and current number two on Russia's Security Council, referring to Volodymyr Zelensky. President Donald Trump is right, the Kiev regime is "playing with World War III," Medvedev wrote.
"The acrimonious confrontation between Trump and Zelensky in the White House is "historic," said Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund. He was part of the Russian negotiating team in the Russian-US meeting held on February 18 in Saudi Arabia.

Democrats accused Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance of doing Russian President Vladimir Putin's "dirty work."
Republicans, for their part, said US leaders were right to accuse Zelensky of lacking gratitude for US support in defending Ukraine from the Russian invasion.
