A protest against the hypermarkets in Bulgaria is expected again.
The organisers call on Bulgarian consumers to join the initiative responsibly. They remind that on 20 February similar protest actions are expected in other Balkan countries - Croatia and Greece.
The last few years have seen a surge in food and electricity prices worldwide. This trend has not passed our country by. Despite the fall in inflation over the last half year, the prices of basic necessities remain sufficiently high.
This was the reason for holding an emergency meeting at the Council of Ministers, chaired by Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov with the participation of key ministers such as Temenuzhka Petkova of Finance and Georgi Tahov of Agriculture.
After the meeting, Petkova presented the figures related to the first boycott, which took place last Thursday. "28.8% drop in turnover of big food chains on the day of the supermarket boycott," she said. I BGNES
