Jack Draper ended two-time champion Carlos Alcaraz's streak of 16 consecutive wins to reach the final of the Masters in Indian Wells. The 23-year-old Briton ran out a 6-1, 0-6, 6-4 winner in an hour and 44 minutes to guarantee himself a spot in the ATP Top 10 for the first time.
Alcaraz could have become the first player born in 1991 or later to win three consecutive singles titles at an ATP tournament, but failed to reach the last round. Despite losing 600 points, the Spaniard will remain No. 3 in the world on Monday.
Draper will face Holger Rune for the title.
A year ago, the Briton was No. 43 in the world, but has since enjoyed a promising rise, highlighted by his titles in Stuttgart and Vienna, as well as reaching the semifinals of the U.S. Open last year. | BGNES
