La Liga: Barcelona never had financial capacity to register Olmo

The Catalans have used both Olmo and Pau Victor after been granted interim permission to do so.

The Spanish La Liga said today that Barcelona never had the financial capacity to register Dani Olmo and Pau Victor, and continues to lack it, pending the final decision of the Spanish Sports Council.

BGNES recalls that in January the Catalans announced that they had reached an agreement to sell VIP seats at the Camp Nou, which is currently under renovation, for a value of 100 million euros. This is what allowed them to register the two footballers in question.

According to La Liga, Barca used an unnamed auditor between December 31 and January 3 to account for the transaction, but the current one did not include it in the club's provisional financial operations for the first half of the 2024/25 season. The top echelon of football in Spain will report the unnamed to the Institute of Accounting and Auditing.

La Liga's actions have predictably angered Barcelona president Joan Laporta. "I have the feeling that this was not done by chance, today we have a very important match against Atletico Madrid", he said before the second leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final, adding: "This is another attempt to destabilize the club and sometimes I have the feeling that when they can't beat us on the pitch, they try to do it off it. As president of Barcelona, I will not allow this and I will continue to defend the interests of our club". | BGNES
