China, Japan and South Korea have agreed to jointly respond to US tariffs.
This was reported by Chinese state television CCTV. According to the authorities in Seoul, this information is "slightly exaggerated".
The state media's comments came after the three countries held their first economic dialogue in five years on March 30th, seeking to facilitate regional trade as Asian export powers oppose US President Donald Trump's tariffs.
Japan and South Korea are seeking to import semiconductor raw materials from China, and China is also interested in buying chip products from Japan and South Korea, Yuyuan Tantian said in a Weibo post.
All three sides agreed to strengthen supply chain cooperation and hold more dialogue on export controls, the post said.
Asked about the report, a South Korean trade ministry spokesman said the "suggestion that there was a joint response to the U.S. tariffs seems to be a bit exaggerated," and referred to the text of the parties' joint statement. I BGNES
