Singer Justin Timberlake has set a new record after his upcoming concert at the 55,000-capacity Dianamo Arena sold out in six hours.
The American star will perform in Tbilisi on July 23 as part of the government-backed "Starring Georgia" programme, which aims to bring Western performers to the country to boost tourism and the economy.
Bruno Mars, OneRepublic, The Killers, Imagine Dragons, Niall Rodgers and CHIC will be visiting the transcontinental country in the third year of the campaign.
Timberlake's concert, promoted by Live Nation, set a new record for the fastest sell-out in Starring Georgia history.
"This will be more than a concert, it will be a cultural event for Georgia and the surrounding states. When your country joins the entire world as part of a world tour and the population of your country has the opportunity to hear their favorite artist in their country, that's important," said "Starring Georgia" Project Manager C. Yashvili.
Yashvili also said she is sure the concert will boost tourism in the country, especially among younger people.
Timberlake is in the second year of "The Forget Tomorrow World Tour." This is his first tour in 5 years. Produced by Live Nation, the tour kicks off on April 29, 2024 and will see the singer-songwriter perform more than 85 shows in over 55 cities across North America and Europe.
This year, the 44-year-old artist takes the tour to smaller countries in Europe, as well as several festivals such as Pinkpop (Netherlands), Electric Castle (Romania), Belsonic (Ireland), Isle of Wight Festival (UK) and the brand new Chelmsford City Live (UK).
As well as Timberlake, this year's Starring Georgia line-up will also include Guns N' Roses at Shekveli Park in Batumi (30 May) and Empire of the Sun on the outdoor stage at the Black Sea Arena (27 August). | BGNES
