Robbie Williams reveals he had previously been diagnosed with scurvy

"I had stopped eating and wasn't getting nutrients," he explained, adding that he was later diagnosed with scurvy, which he described as a "17th century pirate disease".

Singer Robbie Williams revealed he was diagnosed with scurvy - a vitamin deficiency - earlier this year.
Williams, 51, opened up about his health condition, saying he learned of his diagnosis after struggling with his mental health in recent months.
"The year started with poor mental health, which I haven't had in a long, long time," he said, adding that he felt "sad, anxious, depressed," CNN reports.
The "Take That" singer said he was first diagnosed with depression in his 20s and that it had been a while since he had struggled with it.
"I thought I was at the other end of the rainbow," he said. "So getting it back was just confusing."
Williams began to suspect that his diet might be a contributing factor to how he was feeling.
"I had stopped eating and wasn't getting the nutrients," he explained, adding that he was later diagnosed with scurvy, which he described as a "17th century pirate disease."
According to the Cleveland Clinic, scurvy is a serious vitamin C deficiency and is caused by a lack of this nutrient in the diet. The condition is rare in the United States due to the country's nutrient-rich diet and is usually seen in countries where people are malnourished.
Once he changed his diet, his health and depression became manageable.
"The most important thing is to make yourself feel good," he said.
Williams is set to tour the United Kingdom, Ireland and Europe beginning in May and running through the end of the summer. His recent biographical musical drama "A Better Man," released last year, was nominated for an Oscar for best visual effects. | BGNES
