Prince Harry arrived at court in London for his police protection trial

Prince Harry, the youngest son of King Charles III, has arrived at the Court of Appeal in London to challenge a ruling that stripped him of his routine police protection during visits to the United Kingdom, AFP reported.

Following Harry's dramatic separation from the royal family in 2020 and subsequent move to North America, the British government said he would no longer receive the "same degree" of state-funded protection when in the United Kingdom.

But the 40-year-old prince has taken legal action against the Home Office and, after his original case was dismissed last year, he has now appealed to the Court of Appeal in London.

Harry and his American wife Meghan are no longer classed as working royals following their acrimonious departure from the UK in 2020, which has largely alienated them from the family.

They started a new life in California, but the younger son of King Charles III said security concerns had hampered his ability to visit home and he only rarely returned to the UK for short visits.  | BGNES
