Europe should support the US’ efforts to find the best solution for the war in Ukraine. The military solution is a losing one. This is what President Rumen

Radev said on the efforts to find peace in Ukraine, BGNES reports.

Radev attended the presentation of an analysis of the state of the army, which was attended by Defense Minister Atanas Zapryanov, Chief of Defense Admiral Emil Eftimov and senior military officials. 

According to Radev, everything should be seen in the light of the security environment. 

"We are witnessing a change in the security environment of unprecedented scale and dynamics of growing unpredictability in the geopolitical space. Just a week ago, the Munich Security Conference caused a real tremor in the Euro-Atlantic space. Since last night, you see what is also happening in the General Assembly of the UN Security Council, which your colleagues from CNN are already characterizing as a new dividing line in the Euro-Atlantic space, and we can observe a different assessment of the war in Ukraine and different approaches to resolving this conflict on the one hand by the United States and on the other hand by the European partners," the Head of State said.

He believes that a debate is now brewing about a possible refocusing of the US from the Euro-Atlantic space towards the Pacific region.

"The United States insists on a rapid settlement of this conflict by means of diplomacy. What we saw yesterday, and with the visit of European leaders to Ukraine, is the other approach - continuing military action and seeking through it to put Ukraine in a position of strength for possible further negotiations.

However, the whole course of the war so far shows that this is a utopian hope; it will cause many more casualties, even more destruction and devastation in

Ukraine, which Europe will have to pay for in the end. Europe is most interested in taking part in the peace process and in leading, because it will rebuild Ukraine," Rumen Radev added. | BGNES
