For the first time since President Aleksandar Vučić's Serbian Progressive Party came to power 12 years ago, the majority of citizens is against his rule. This is according to the latest survey of the New Serbian Political Thought /NSPM/, BGNES reported.
The Serbian Progressive Party /SPP/ and Aleksandar Vučić are in serious decline. For the first time since the SPP came to power, the number of those who are against the government is greater than those who support it. Taking into account data from previous opinion polls, it can be seen that the rating of Vucic and the SPP has fallen by almost five percent in the last five months, said NSPM's Djordje Vukadinovic.
"Almost 60 percent of Serbia's adult citizens support the student protests. Less than 32 percent are against. The holding of the EXPO 2027 exhibition in Belgrade is supported by about a third of citizens - 34.2 percent, but 51.6 percent are against." "In general, it can be said that the current government - the SPP, the Socialist Party and their satellites - has the support of only a third of Serbia's adult citizens - 32.8 percent - and the rest goes to the government's opponents - 41.3 percent. 25.9 percent have no opinion on the matter, according to the New Serbian Political Thought poll.
According to Djordje Vukadinovic, the decline in the rating of the government led by Aleksandar Vucic started last summer, after the lithium scandal, and accelerated after the fall of the railway station visor in Novi Sad.
The SPP's approval rating fell to 37% in February and dropped to 36% in early March.
"To the inexperienced or those with high expectations this may seem like a small change, but in fact Vucic has lost over four percent since October, and this trend continues and is now five percent. There are no signs of recovery, despite the investment of a lot of energy and resources on his part to get his rating back. Since he raised the issue of lithium again a few days ago in Brussels, it will certainly affect the rating. Moreover, the EXPO, as his flagship project, is not going well either," Vukadinovic further explained. | BGNES
