Liverpool have traditionally paid tribute to the victims of the Hillsborough disaster today.
On April 15, 1989, a fatal accident occurred during the semi-final of the Football Association Cup between the Reds and Nottingham Forest. Due to excessive crowding, 94 people died on the fatal April 15th 36 years ago. A fan passed away in hospital a few days later, Tony Bland died in 1993, and in 2021 the last 97th victim of the tragedy died.
Liverpool, who are on their way to a 20th English championship, paid initially tribute to the victims on Sunday, when they achieved a dramatic 2:1 victory over West Ham at Anfield.
This morning, the management, players, coaches and staff laid wreaths at the Hillsborough Memorial at Anfield. Among those in attendance was the club's all-time leading scorer Ian Rush. | BGNES
