Arsenal won the Premier League derby with Manchester United 2-0 and reduced Liverpool's lead at the top of the standings to 7 points after the "Reds" dropped points on their visit to Newcastle.

At the Emirates, the hosts had the advantage of the game, but they had difficulty getting clear chances against the well-organized defense of the "Red Devils". The key to the success of the "Gunners" was their extremely strong play from static positions. The Londoners took a total of 13 corners, most of which were dangerous, and two turned into goals after the break. Liverpool now have 35 points, seven more than their rivals Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City. Manchester United are in 11th place with 19 points, while Newcastle are a point ahead in 10th place.
