Vucic: Putin protects Serbia and Republika Srpska from colour revolutions

The two will hold a meeting on May 9 in Moscow.

"Russian President Vladimir Putin supports the legitimately elected government in Serbia. Moscow has always supported the Dayton Peace Agreement and the Republika Srpska. I thanked him for the fact that Russian officials do not support the colour revolution and President Putin had a very clear position on this. Russia understands and sees what is happening and will continue to support the legitimately and legitimately elected authorities in Serbia."

This is what Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said after his telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, reports BGNES.

The two will hold a meeting on May 9 in Moscow.

In a video message on his Instagram account, the Serbian president said that he had spoken with Putin about "the attempted colour revolution in Serbia."

"I thanked him for Russian officials not supporting the colour revolution and President Putin had a very clear position on this. Russia understands and sees what is happening and will continue to support the legitimately and legally elected authorities in Serbia," he explained.

Vucic discussed the situation in the region with Putin and conveyed to him the message of Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik.

"President Putin sees the attempts and moves of the top representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina with only one goal, which is to topple Milorad Dodik. The Russian Federation has always supported the Dayton Peace Agreement and Republika Srpska," he stressed.

The Serbian head of state has also commented with the Russian president on how to solve the issue of Serbia's oil industry (NIS), given the US sanctions against this company.

He did not give details, saying he had also discussed with Putin how Serbia could conclude a new gas agreement with Russia before May 31.

Other topics of discussion were "political and economic cooperation between the two countries."

Vucic said his visit to the Russian Federation on 9 May had been confirmed, adding that he would head a Serbian delegation to Moscow in early May for the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the victory over fascism. | BGNES
