Vucic: Putin and I have sweet talks at night, Trump swings like a plane between Russia and Ukraine

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic spoke in an interview about his relations with Vladimir Putin.

He recalled that he once went to the Russian president's home at 11:00 pm.

"We were alone and I brought him a beautiful, old icon... He came over, crossed himself three times, kissed the icon... With that he showed me trust and we continued talking. Our conversations are not always sweet and simple, but we always show respect. He knows that, unlike many others, I do not hate Russia. The tradition in my family is that people like to have a close relationship with this country (Russia). I, of course, always want to protect Serbian interests first, but not to spoil Serbian-Russian relations. "You see Trump, like an airplane that is swinging, one day this way to Ukraine, the next day that way... Zelenski is a very intelligent person, don't underestimate him, although I would make different decisions," the Serbian president told Inform TV.

Vucic said that "NATO is nothing without the United States" and that the Russians were not happy with the proposed 30-day ceasefire in Ukraine.

"When I proposed a Christmas truce, everyone jumped against me, including Vladimir (Zelensky), and now Trump is accepting the same proposal. I don't believe the Russians will accept the offer while the Ukrainians want to buy time," Vucic added.

The president also commented on the 22-hour blockade of the Radio Television Serbia /RTS/ building, which ended on the evening of March 11. He pointed out that RTS was facing a "classic hostage crisis".

"All of Serbia is courting them and no one dares to say anything to them (the protesters - ed.). The people of the party I love most are silent as if drowned. How do you have the right to block anyone? Remember when they demonstrated for an hour or two outside N1 and threw leaflets? The whole world said then that the violence was terrible," Vucic said, adding:

"They were just looking for a fight! Are they gods? Do you understand what we are living in today? We are living in plenums and assemblies! They want to destroy our country, our democratic society. This is a fight for the country. I will not let them destroy our country without a fight. If they win, there will be no country. As long as I am alive, I will fight against this, and the strength with which I will fight will be greater and greater." | BGNES
