Ukraine backs US proposal for 30-day ceasefire

Negotiations between Ukraine and the US in Saudi Arabia are proving "positive" and "productive". This was announced by the White House.

Ukraine supported the US proposal for a 30-day joint ceasefire with Russia. The US, for its part, agreed to lift restrictions on military aid and intelligence sharing, a joint statement said.

After talks in Saudi Arabia, the two sides also agreed to conclude an agreement on Ukrainian minerals "as soon as possible."

"Ukraine expressed its readiness to accept the USA proposal to implement an immediate, temporary 30-day ceasefire, which may be extended by mutual agreement of the parties and which is subject to acceptance and simultaneous implementation by Russian Federation," the joint statement following the talks said.

"The United States will communicate to Russia that Russian reciprocity is the key to achieving peace. The United States will immediately lift the pause in intelligence sharing and resume security assistance to Ukraine," it added.
