In 2025, the Blue Moon Mark 1 module should make a soft landing on the lunar surface, Blue Origin CEO Dave Limp promised, as quoted by SpaceNews.
Limp suggested that one of the upcoming launches of the heavy-lift New Glenn rocket could include the Blue Moon Mark 1 module, which is being developed by Blue Origin under the Human Landing System (HLS) contract with NASA. "I remain confident we can get to the moon this year," the company's chief executive said.
He said the three-tonne Blue Moon module will be the largest vehicle ever to land on the Moon. Limp noted that the Blue Moon module's reusable design allows it to be used as the basis for a device that would be able to land on Mars.
Earlier, the publication reported that US companies Blue Origin and SpaceX have made significant progress in creating manned modules for landing on the moon. | BGNES
