Prosecutors ask for 18-month suspended sentence for Gerard Depardieu

Two women who accused him of sexual assault during the filming in 2021 of director Jean Becker's "Les Volets Verts".

Prosecutors in the sexual assault case against Gerard Depardieu have recommended a suspended sentence of 18 months in prison for the French actor.

The prosecutor general said Depardieu should be fined 20,000 euros and pay compensation to the plaintiffs, two women who accused him of sexual assault during the filming in 2021 of director Jean Becker's "Les Volets Verts" ("The Green Blinds").

Depardieu, who has starred in more than 200 films and TV series, has been accused of indecent behaviour by about 20 women. However, this is the first case to go to court.

Anouk Grinberg, a famous actress who starred in the film, supported the two plaintiffs, a 54-year-old makeup artist on the set, identified only as Amelie, and a 34-year-old assistant director. Both women claimed they were sexually assaulted. | BGNES
