Rosen Zhelyazkov: Bulgaria should participate in all formats that guarantee EU security

Zhelyazkov is in Brussels to participate in the special council on Ukraine.

It is important for Bulgaria to participate in all formats that guarantee the security of the European Union, Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov told journalists in Brussels, BGNES reports.
Zhelyazkov is in Brussels to participate in the special council on Ukraine.
"Nothing related to peace in Ukraine can be solved without Ukraine," the Bulgarian prime minister stressed, noting that it is important what kind of peace we are striving for.
"When the power of right is confronted with the right of might, Europe must be prepared," Zhelyazkov said.
He suggested that Bulgaria has a strong military industry, which the country should develop, modernise and contribute to common European security.
"We have a clear national position that this should not jeopardise cohesion and cohesion funds, so we will make a proposal to allow unused funds from the Recovery and Sustainability Mechanism to be used, again in the Bulgarian economy, but for a defence cluster," Zhelyazkov said.
When asked what military aid Bulgaria would give to Ukraine, he was adamant that this would not be discussed at the moment.
"Everything that Bulgaria has undertaken with the acts of parliament will be implemented," he added.
The prime minister stressed that it is important for Bulgaria to be a participant in all formats that guarantee the EU's security.
In his words, the US should remain in all security formats and without the US Europe is weak.
"Our collective security is based on values," he added. | BGNES
